Dance Week San Francisco 2014 kicks off with another free dance-along in Union Square. START NOW to learn an easy dance at home online, or attend one of the free rehearsals to learn it. Bring friends or come solo to shake your booty with fellow San Franciscans!
Always wanted to dance in the streets with thousands of your fellow San Franciscans? This is your big chance to boogie in the large group opening ceremony for Dance Week, organized by One Dance:
Noon in Union Square
This is just the large group unison section. A small neighborhood group will also perform very, very easy 50 counts of original dance before the large group sections on April 26. If you would like to help create or just learn this short introduction for the Union Square event, rehearse in Huntington Park at 10:00am on Saturday, April 13. Look for the choreographer wearing a big pink sunhat, at the fountain.
Hey San Franciscans, aren’t you curious how many apartments are crammed-full with new pets after the holiday puppies-in-the-Macy’s-window extravaganza by the SPCA? We couldn’t get past the sidewalk gridlock with everyone chatting-up the cute critters, nevermind the glass barrier. This event gives “impulse shopping” a good name every year! If your household just grew by pups-and-bounds, you may want to consider a walking group to begin the new year right for all the species in your flat.
Check to see if your neighborhood has anything going on NextDoor.com. The San Francisco Theater District is called “Lower Nob Hill” on NextDoor.com, and there’s definitely a dog-walking group already formed.
Thanks to Kath Dickens for the fun and easy line dance to “San Francisco” by the Olsen Brothers. One question, fellow SFers: Why did it take a Brit to do this? Dance more, think less. Click here to watch and learn Kath’s San Francisco moves.
Westerners hate to give that other coast any credit, but this time Ben Aaron was so right! Dance Walking combines the best of all worlds: An exercise routine that makes everyone smile and helps you meet lots of great people. You will smile, too. For sure. Will pumping iron do that for you? No way. Only Dance Walking will. So get out there, anywhere anytime, turn on a boom box or just plug in your ipod tunes and start waling/dancing from point A to point B.
Admittedly, the awesome Fourth of July celebration in San Francisco brings people from all over, but who knew that would mean all over the world? Add a little music, some fireworks and your new red sneakers.

Bay-to-Breakers race in SF this Sunday! Check out road closures, which may be why some theaters are offering last-minute deals good for us neighbors. Zazzle wants SF local schmokles to take videos of the race and upload them. Who oh Who will win this year’s costume contest?
